About Mt Isa Day Nursery and Kindergarten
A warm and loving environment for your child
Mount Isa Day Nursery and Kindergarten Inc. (MIDNK) is a non-profit organisation (NPO) whose purpose is to provide early education and care that exceeds traditional care and education standards. To achieve this, we do things a little differently.
As an NPO, our income is derived mainly from fees charged to parents and Childcare Assistance subsidies to parents. The Nursery was originally a child-minding centre provided by Mount Isa Mines Limited (M.I.M). It opened its present building in 1972, still under the guiding influence of Mount Isa Mines. In the following years, M.I.M gradually relinquished all interest in the centre and in 1973 it became a public facility regulated via the Associations Incorporations Act 1981 and Associations Incorporation Regulation 1999.
The Centre is registered with the Mount Isa City Council. The Council, as well as the Department of Child Safety, enforces regulations relating to our building, its facilities and health aspects. Inspections can be made at any time. The local Fire Department also makes regular inspections.
We recognise our role in guiding our children to protect and cherish our natural world.
We are nothing without our people. We value, recognise and reward their loyalty and passion.
